Mrs. Yvonne Spell Spivey, age 82, of Axson, Ga., passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, at her home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Spivey was born on January 06, 1944, in Coffee County to the late William Lankston Spell and the late Ora Kelly Spell Harper. She had made her home in Atkinson County since 1968 and was a 1961 graduate of Coffee County Highschool. She was a member of Union Hill Congregational Church and was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, working in the yard, and flowers. Along with her parents, Mrs. Spivey is preceded in death by her husband, George Spivey, son, Clay Spivey, 4 brothers, David Hugh Spell, Donald Spell, Robert Harper, and Vinnie Harper, stepfather, Jake Harper, and stepbrother, Othel Harper.
Survivors Include:
5 Sisters: Josephine Harper of Douglas, Ga.
Mary Lou Gillespie of Hiawassee, Ga.
Lenora Barley and husband Phil of West Green, Ga.
Darlene Harper Gray and husband Don of Douglas, Ga.
Audrey Corbitt Burke of Lenox, Ga.
3 Sister-in-laws: Irma Lou Spell of Nicholls, Ga.
Burrell Harper of Douglas, Ga.
Shirley Spivey Bennett of Pearson, Ga.
Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Spivey were held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Union Hill Congregational Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Edward Mathews and Rev. Tim Cox officiating. Special music included “I Come to The Garden Alone” and “Beulah Land” presented by cd. The internment followed in Union Hill Cemetery with “Amazing Grace” presented by cd.
Active Pallbearers included: Byron Gillespie, Brad Gillespie, Dewayne Harper, Brent Burnham, Bruce Spell, and Jerome Steptoe
Honorary Pallbearers included: All in Attendance
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
