Mr. William T. Fender, Jr., age 69 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Pruitt Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ocilla, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Pearson, Ga., Mr. Fender was born November 9, l949, son of the late William Terrell Fender, Sr. and Marie McDuffie Fender. Mr. Fender worked for many years as a propane gas truck driver for Tri County Gas Co. and later with Ferrell Gas Co. before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and talking with people. It was said he never met a stranger. He attended Sunnyside Bapstist Church, Ozias Bapstist Church and Fales Pentecostal Church. Survivors include: Wife: Crystal Beck Fender Pearson, Ga. 2 Daughters: Amanda Crosby and husband Tony of Eastman, Ga. Christy Hersey and husband Jason of Eastman, Ga. 2 Sisters: Betty Gillis and husband Johnny of Pearson, Ga. Elizabeth McGovern of Manor, Ga. Brother: Jack Fender and wife Sheila of Pearson, Ga. 2 Grandsons: Kyle Crosby and Christian Hersey Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Fender were held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at New Bethel Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. J.A. Anderson officiating. Special music was “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Amazing Grace” presented by CD. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by Lilla Deems, pianist. The interment followed in New Bethel Church Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Jonathan Decosta, Harvey Allen Spikes, Daniel Hodges, Fisher Davis, Darrell Davis and Buddy Jordan. Honorary pallbearers were Bill (Bunk) Spivey and Clifford Colson. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
