Wilford Ray White

February 19, 1949 — April 11, 2024

Mr. Wilford Ray White, age 75, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. Vincents Hospital in Jacksonville, Fl.

 

Mr. White was born in Axson, Ga. on February 19, 1949, the son of Nephi and Christine Wall White. He had made his home in Axson, Ga. for most of his life and had worked in the mobile home business as a truck driver. He especially enjoyed fishing (bass), hunting (coon), singing and playing the guitar.  He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he shared his talents of singing and playing the guitar.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacie Renae White, Sisters, Johnnie Mae Taft, Latrelle Highsmith, and Glenda Tanner, Brother, Floyd White and Brother-in-Law, Wayne White.

 

Survivors include:

Wife:  Jakey Harrell White of Axson, Ga.

 

Daughter: Tonya Jewell and husband Johnny of Blackshear, Ga.

 

Sister: Susan White of Axson, Ga.

 

Grandchildren: Tristan Jewell and wife Shelby

                          Camden Jewell and fiancé Hannah Edge

 

Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mr. White were held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Axson, Ga. with Rev. Walter James and Rev. William Pope officiating. Special musical selections included the following songs recorded by Mr. White, “Jesus Paid the Price”, “He’s The Way”, and “I’ll Go Free”. The interment followed in Axson Cemetery with a special song by grandson Camden Jewell and fiancée Hannah Edge (Ukulele) “He’s The Way”. Military Honors followed with Taps and presentation of Flag by an U. S. Army Honor Guard contingent from Ft. Stewart, Ga.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were Tristin Jewell, Camden Jewell, Ronnie Davis, Michael Davis, Floyd Tanner, and Kevin White. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Pittman, Andy Harper, Ronnie Hardee, Kenny White, and Jimmy Tanner.

 

Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
