Mr. Virgil Ray Morris, age 86, of Pearson, Ga., passed away Monday, July 07, 2025, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Ga. following a brief illness.

Born November 22, 1938, in Higston, Ga., Mr. Morris was the son of the late Lodie and Ida Mae King Morris. He lived in Montgomery County before moving to Atkinson County 50 years ago. Mr. Morris owned and operated Morris Plastering before retiring. He was a member of Pearson Traditional Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by 2 brothers, W.H. Morris and Jerry Burns, and 2 sisters, Evelyn Paige and Faye Murphy.

Survivors include:

Wife of 65 years: Sandra Gibbs Morris of Pearson, Ga.

Son: Anthony Morris and wife Perette of Willacoochee, Ga.

Daughter: Andrea Lott and husband Kyle of Pearson, Ga.

Sister: Joan Bagley of Palmer, AK.,

5 Grandchildren: Ashleigh Hunter (Daniel), Amber Morris (Kyle Cook), Aeron Morris (Kiley), Kaitlyn Lott, and Theorayn Lott (Tara).

8 Great Grandchildren: Tucker Hunter, Kaisley Morris, Grayson Cook, Rayleigh Hunter, Kaibrey Morris, Silas Hunter, Lincoln Lott, and Kyler Ray Lott.

Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Morris were held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Pearson Traditional Methodist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Bro. Gary Griffin and Bro. Phil Liles officiating. Special music included “Victory in Jesus”, “Never Grow Old”, and “When We All Get to Heaven” rendered by the attending congregation with Phil Liles accompanying at the piano. “Off Heaven” was presented by cd. Prelude and Postlude music by Phil Liles, pianist. The internment followed at New Bethel Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers included: Aeron Morris, Theorayn Lott, Daniel Hunter, Kyle Cook, Henry Brown and Jeff Hughes.

Honorary Pallbearers included: Charlie Bray, Johnny Powell, Charles Gladden, Jimmy Cravey, Mike Rowe, Jimmy Riggs and Don Innes.
