Phillip Buford Mullis

October 25, 1975 — March 3, 2021

Mr. Phillip Buford Mullis, age 45 of Pearson, Ga. passed away, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at his home, surrounded by family and friends, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 25, 1975 in Waycross, Ga. to parents, Jerry and Phyllis Douglas Mullis, Phillip grew up in the Atkinson County area, he later moved to the Jupiter, Fla. area to attend college and play college football.  After graduating with his bachelor’s degree, Phillip worked in transportation as a truck driver and enjoyed fishing, reading and music.  He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Jerry Mullis, nephew, Austin Mullis, paternal grandparents, James and Agnes Mullis and his maternal grandparents, Parnell and Myrtle Douglas.

Survivors include:

Mother:  Phyllis Mullis of Pearson, Ga.

2 Daughters:  Holly Mullis of Homerville, Ga.

                     Maddie Mullis of Pearson, Ga.

2 Brothers:  Greg Mullis and wife, Jeana of Pearson, Ga.

                  Ray Mullis of Okeechobee, Fla.

Several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews along with other relatives also survive.

Graveside Memorial Service for Mr. Mullis was held, Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Axson Cemetery in Axson, Ga. with Rev. Jimmy Spikes and Bro. Justin White officiating.  Special musical selections included “Go Rest High on that Mountain” and “Stroll Over Heaven with Me” rendered by Tammy and Jerry Guthrie, and Tammy Altman.  The interment followed in Axson Cemetery.  

Serving as active pallbearers were:  James Mullis, Davis Moody, Chase Mullis, Woodrow Mullis, Justin White, Jason Douglas, Nate Douglas, Ryan Guess and Josh White.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
