Norman L. Batten

Mr. Norman L. Batten of Douglas, Ga. passed away Saturday, October 01, 2022, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.

Mr. Batten was born October 3, l954 in Ipswich, England, son of Nerle and Billie Teague Batten.  He had made his home in the Douglas and Pearson area his entire life and had previously worked as a lineman with Ga. Power Co.  He loved to hunt and fish, spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He rescued countless animals and was always ready to help anyone in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lura Batten Relihan.

Survivors include:

Daughter:  Valerie Batten of Douglas, Ga.

3 Sons:  Donovan Batten and wife Kandy of Pearson, Ga.

              Kalem Batten and family of Pearson, Ga.

              Norman L. Batten II of Douglas, Ga.

2 Brothers:  David Batten and wife Eugenia of Bowdon, Ga.

                    Russell Batten and wife Margaret of Perry, Fl.

2 Sisters:  Sandye Hersey and husband Kenneth of Douglas, Ga.

                 Nancy Measels and husband Mark of Douglasville, Ga.

11 Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Batten were held on Friday, October 07, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Wesley Chapel Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Dody Hersey and Rev. Hardy Crosby officiating. Special music included “Even Though I’m Leaving”, Daddy’s Little Girl”, “Jealous of the Angels”,and “Daddy’s Hands”, presented by CD.  The interment followed in Royals Cemetery with “Free Bird” rendered at the graveside.

Serving as active pallbearers were: James Gore, Lee Pittman, Josh Relihan, Shane Hersey, Michael Stewart, and Andrew Lemus. Honorary pallbearers were: Jerome Chaney, Michael Chaney, Cole Chaney, Richard Lott, Paul Hall, Matthew Paulk, and Jake Thomas.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
