Mrs. Mona Hallman Steele, age 76, of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, following an extended illness.

Born May 17, 1949, in Mobile, Al., Mrs. Steele was the daughter of the late James Venson and Clara Agnue Gunter Hallman. She was a native of Mobile, Al. before moving to Willacoochee, Ga. 24 years ago. Mrs. Hall was self-employed as a Beautician and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, painting, gardening, flowers and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Steele, sister, Jerolyn Hallman and brother, Wyman Hallman.

Survivors include:

5 Sons: Andy Steele of Willacoochee, Ga.

             Alex Steele and wife Lee of Waycross, Ga.

             James Steele and wife Angela of Pearson, Ga.

             Adam Steele and wife Brittany of Nicholls, Ga.

             Austin Steele of Willacoochee, Ga.

3 Daughters: Paula Amy Hall and husband Timmy of Nashville, Ga.

                      Wendy Mueller of Charlotte, N.C.

                      Kristy Applegate and husband Tony of Kampala Uganda, Africa

3 Sisters: Clarice Humes and husband D.J. of Douglas, Ga.

                Sarah Hallman of Metter, Ga.

                Earline Weeks of Douglas, Ga.

Several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Graveside funeral services for Ms. Steele were held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 8:00 A.M. in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. Special music included “I’ll Fly Away” by Alan Jackson. The interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers included: Derrick Hall, Timmy Hall, Conner Hall, Zack Steele, Brenton Steele, and Maverick Steele.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
