Mark "Monk" Reliford

November 17, 1931 — October 20, 2018

Mr. Mark "Monk" Reliford, age 86 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his residence in Willacoochee, Ga. following an extended illness. 

Born November 17, l931 in Atkinson County, Mr. Reliford was the son of William and Niceann Bowen Reliford. He had made his home in Willacoochee for most his life and worked as a farmer and at the Post Plant at McCranie Brothers in Willacoochee. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He attended the Willacoochee Holiness Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Reliford, 5 brothers, Felcher Reliford, Henry Reliford, William Reliford, Jim Reliford and Clarence Reliford and 3 sisters, Letha McDonald, Lillie Mae Smith, and Rosa Mae McDonald.

Survivors include: 

Wife:  Mary Ellen Vining Reliford of Willacoochee, Ga.

1 Daughter:  Marie Rowe and husband, David of Willacoochee, Ga.

Daughter-in-law:  Sandra Leslie of Ocilla, Ga.

3 Grandchildren:  Michelle Reliford Apperson and husband, Kelly
                             John Rowe and wife, Nina
                             Andy Rowe and wife, Sunshine

5 Great-Grandchildren:  Ariel Rowe, Michaela Rowe, Jacob Rowe, Ethan Apperson, and Leslie Apperson

1 Step-Great-Grandchild:  A.J. Merritt

Several Nieces and Nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. Reliford were held, Monday, October 22, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Wesley Chapel Holiness Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Larry Stone and Rev. Russell Joiner officiating. Special music included “He Knows My Name” rendered by Christina and Domnia Ramirez accompanied by CD, “Just One Rose Will Do” rendered acapella by Betty Joiner and Joyce Hunkapiller, and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” presented by CD. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by Betty Joiner, pianist. The Interment followed in Royals Cemetery. 

Serving as active pallbearers were: John Rowe, Andy Rowe, Jacob Rowe, Ethan Apperson, Kelly Apperson and Brian Vining.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
