Mrs. Marie V. Stone, age 79, of Pearson, Ga., passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at her home in Pearson, Ga.

Mrs. Stone was born on October 02, 1946, in Lakeland, Ga. to the late John D. and Louell Browning Vaughn. She worked as a homemaker and was a member of Axson Church of God of Prophecy and attended Way of Holiness Church. She enjoyed traveling, sending out cards, gospel songs, reading, going out to eat, and spending time with her family. One of her favorite things was bible trivia and she was known for her knowledge of the gospel. Along with her parents, Mrs. Stone is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Stone, brother, Jr. Vaughn, sister, Patsy Griffis, and best friend, Sandra Gail Burch.

              Ronald “Snake” Stone of Pearson, Ga.

              Roger Stone of Millwood, Ga.

3 Daughters: Valerie Dupree and husband Jerry of Nicholls, Ga.

                        Vicky Giddens and husband Roger of Pearson, Ga.

                        Cynthia “Cindy” Stone of Lufkin, Tx.

Sister: Kay Oliver of Douglas, Ga.

Special Niece: Maggie Oliver of Douglas

3 Special Friends: Debbie Zorn Stone of Millwood, Ga.

                                  Carrie Lang of Pearson, Ga.

                                  Faith Bennett of Pearson, Ga.

8 Grandchildren: Terri Kay Dupree, Dewayne (Raven) Hurst, Cheyenne Bennett, Briana (Dakota) Timmons, Ashley (Dana) Giddens, Everett (Alicia) Fuller, Hannah (Marcus) Cofield, and Kallie (Jackson) Williams

15 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Stone were held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Axson Church of God of Prophecy in Axson, Ga. with Rev. Andy Hickox, Rev. Catherine Moore Dennison, and grandson, Ashley Giddens officiating. Special music included “Another Child of God Gone Home”, “On the Other Shore”, “Going to a City”, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken”, and “The Dearest Friend” presented by Ashley & Dana Giddens, Margaret Smith, Rose Hickox, and Faith Bennett. The interment followed at Fender Cemetery in Lakeland, Ga. with musical selections “Amazing Grace” and “Nothing Can Hold Me Here".

Active Pallbearers were: Russell Dupree, Glen Dupree, Michael Stone, Steve Batten, Keith Haskins, and Russell Hurlbert

Honorary Pallbearers were: Johnny Burch, Charles Waters, Randy Stone, Allen Dennison, Mark Hobbs, Bethany Hospice, Ellis Oliver, and George Gilbert

Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
