Mrs. Linda McKinnon Cothern, age 78, of Pearson, Ga., passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026, at her home in Pearson, Ga. following an extended illness.

Mrs. Cothern was born on March 24, 1948, to the late Lester and Odessa Hardin McKinnon. She made her home in Pearson, Ga. and worked at Campbells Soup for many years and at the Atkinson County Board of Education in the Food Service Department. Mrs. Cothern was a member of Ozias Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed attending senior citizen activities, camping, her pets and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Along with her parents, Mrs. Cothern was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Cothern, 2 brothers, Morris Hardin and John Roy McKinnon, and 3 sisters, Dorothy Godsey, Virginia Perry, and Winnie Lott.

Survivors Include:

Son: Brian Sean Cothern of Pearson, Ga.

Brother: Junior McKinnon and wife Ola of Douglas, Ga.

2 Sister-in-Law: Louise Davis of Alma, Ga.

                                 Angela Christopher of Axson, Ga.

Beloved Pet: Precious

Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cothern were held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Michael Johnson officiating. Special music included “Supermarket Flowers”, and “I Miss You Mama” presented by cd. The interment followed at Sweetwater Cemetery.
