Mrs. Laverne W. Summerlin, age 75, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness.

A native of Douglas, Ga., Mrs. Summerlin was born September 12, l950, daughter of the late Johnny and Doris Spivey Williams. Laverne and her husband Hardy moved to Pearson in l994. She enjoyed crocheting, but what she enjoyed most was keeping children in her home for working mothers where she established a lifetime bond with the children and their parents. She was an active member of Sunnyside Freewill Baptist church.

Survivors Include

Husband: Hardy Summerlin of Pearson, Ga.

Daughter: Tammy Williams and husband Frederick of Douglas, Ga.

Brother: Kenny Williams and wife Rose of Douglas, Ga.

2 Half Brothers: Roy Nugent, Jr. of Savannah, Ga.

                          Jeffery Nugent of Savannah, Ga.

2 Sisters: Elaine Harn of Pooler, Ga.

                Sharon Bargeron of Meridian, Ga.

Granddaughter: Brandy Carroll and husband David of Fitzgerald, Ga.

4 Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Special friends included T. J. and Mackenzie Bagley and children, Emmitt and Ellasyn. Zack and Shelby Adams and children, Ereatus and Lou Annie Grimes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Summerlin were held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Sunnyside Freewill Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Teddy Burch and Rev. Roland Mitchell officiating. The Eulogy was given by Mackenzie Bagley. Special music included “I’m a Winner Either Way” by cd and “Amazing Grace” rendered by the congregation. Prelude and Postlude music by Lilla Deems, pianist. The internment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery with a special song by Danny Dawson “Wish You Were Here".

Serving as active pallbearers were: William Deems, Henry Deems, T. J. Bagley, Zack Adams, Jarrett Tucker and Garrett Burch.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
