John Larry Vizena

John Larry Vizena, age 83 of Douglas, Georgia passed away Friday, June 5, 2026 at Lakeside Senior Living in Douglas, following an extended illness.

Larry was raised in Oberlin, Louisiana and left there to pursue his medical lab technology career in Asheville, North Carolina This career is how he landed in Douglas, Georgia and where he met the love of his life, Montene. When they married, 46 years ago, he instantly became Daddy to her 3 children.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, L.C. and Esther Vizena, 2 sisters, Cecilia Ann Vizena, and Brenda Marie Vizena, and his great grandson Gage White.

He is survived by:

Wife: Montene Vizena, of Douglas

Children: Stephen Wilkerson (Kathy), of Axson

                   Melinda Phillips (Stacy), of Douglas

                   Carol Purvis (Wade), of Douglas

Grandchildren:

                 Michael Wilkerson, Jessica Wilkerson, Courtney White, Austin Grimes

                 Brian Bush, Denton Phillips, Keller Phillips

                 Elisa Stevens, Elana Sorrelle

21 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

Siblings:

        Bernadette Lemaire, Joe Vizena, Paul Vizena, and Rita Kesler, all of Louisiana.

Also, several nieces and nephews.

Larry will be memorialized by cremation. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Utah Cemetery Fund, Holy Family Catholic Church, or another charity of your choice.
