John G. "Buck" Newbern

Mr. John G. “Buck” Newbern., age 86 of Pearson, Ga., passed away Thursday, September 03, 2020 at his home in Pearson, Ga. following an extended illness.  A native of Brownsville, Texas, Mr. Newbern was born, May 8, 1934, son of Harvey J. and Lois Sutton Newbern. Mr. Newbern retired from Allied Chemicals in Brunswick, Ga. as a Products Operator. In his younger years, he enjoyed training birddogs and holding field trials. He also enjoyed gardening, mowing, visiting his neighbors and having breakfast with the morning breakfast group at Liza’s Restaurant.  He was a U. S. Army Veteran.  His church membership was at Willacoochee United Methodist church, but he also attended Pearson First Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Harlene Simmons Newbern and a Brother, Bob Newbern.

Survivors include:

Sister: Marlene Sears of Riegelwood, N.C.

Brother: Don Newbern of Donaldsonville, Ga.

Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Newbern were held, Sunday, September 06, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Antioch Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Worzella officiating.  Special music selection “Amazing Grace” was rendered by those in attendance.  The interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
