Mrs. Jean Carolyn Young Peterson, age 94, of Kirkland, Ga., passed away October 28, 2025, at Hospice Satilla in Waycross, Ga. following a short illness.

Born October 09, 1931, in Douglas, Ga., Mrs. Peterson was the daughter of the late Jack and Ollis Hinson Young. She had made her home in Kirkland, Ga. for most of her life and was a member of Kirkland Church where she was Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a homemaker, caregiver and worked on the farm alongside her husband. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend anyone could ask for, and in her spare time loved working outside in her yard and flower beds as a hobby. She enjoyed taking part in the fellowship of the Red Hat Ladies in Pearson as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Alton Peterson and two sons, Jack Lee Peterson and Vance Alton Peterson.

Son: Ray Lee Peterson and wife, Sharon Franks Peterson of Pearson, Ga.

Daughter: Sharon Jeannine Peterson Moss and husband, Randall Wyatt Moss of Brunswick, Ga.

Daughter-in-Law: Latrelle Morgan Peterson Gore and husband, Tom Gore of Darien, Ga.

Brother: James (Jimmy) Edward Young and wife, Linda Garrett Young of Madison, Ga.

3 Grandchildren: Rachel Lee Peterson Moss and husband, Michael Moss

                                 Kelsey Ladauna Peterson

Funeral Services for Mrs. Peterson were held at Kirkland Church in Kirkland, Ga. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Internment for Mrs. Peterson was at Satilla Memorial Gardens, US 441, Douglas, Ga. following the service. Soft music for Prelude and Postlude was by Phil Liles. Special music selections “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” were rendered by cd. Rev. Jimmy Jordan officiated the service.

Serving as acting pallbearers were Randall Moss, Jon Collett, Hunter Collett, Michael Moss, Phil Murray, Chuck Lee, and Brandon Morris.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in memory of Mrs. Peterson to Hospice Satilla in Waycross, Ga., or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements were provided by Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga..
