Jean Ellen Guess Nugent

December 12, 1943 — April 22, 2023

Mrs. Jean Ellen Guess Nugent, age 79 years old of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga.  She was born in Pearson, Ga. on December 12, 1943, daughter of Homer and Alice Gilbert Guess.  Mrs. Nugent made her home here in Pearson, where she raised her family and took great pride in taking care of them, as she worked many years with the Atkinson County BOE, as Lunchroom Manager.  She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Nugent was a member of Goodwill Assembly of God Church and was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Robert E. Nugent, granddaughter: Rebecca Brigmond, 3 brothers: Riley Guess, Eulice Guess, and Morris Guess, and 3 sisters: Ollie Mae Metts, Mary Lou Corbitt, and Ruth Bennett.

 

Survivors include:

 

Son:  Mike Nugent and wife Sandra of Willacoochee, Ga.

 

2 Daughters:  Sharon Rigdon Holt and husband William of Willacoochee, Ga.

                        Melissa McReady and husband Oscar of Willacoochee, Ga.

 

5 Grandchildren:  Brent Rigdon and wife Hollie of Nicholls, Ga.

                               Josh Brigmond of West Green, Ga.

                               David McReady of Willacoochee, Ga.

                               Cameron Rigdon and wife Sierra of Lakeland, Fl.

                               Ashton Pryor and husband Shane of Mystic, Ga. 

 

5 Great-Grandchildren:  Colton Brigmond, Alli Brigmond, Dallan Nugent, Brysen Pryor, and Sarafina Rigdon

 

Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Nugent were held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edward Mathews and Mr. Scott Gillis officiating. Special musical selections included, "Scars in Heaven" and "Go Rest High", both rendered by cd.  The interment followed in Holy Family Cemetery.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Ashley Clark, Brad Mathis, John Smith, "Lil" George McIver, Mike Grantham, and Carl McGowan.

 

Serving as honorary pallbearers were:  Shane Pryer, Mark Day, Howard Henderson, and William Holt.

 

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
