Jasper Bennett, Jr.

Mr. Jasper Bennett, Jr., age 83 passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness.

 

A native of Pearson, Ga., Mr. Bennett was born April 26, 1941, son of the late Jasper, Sr. and Janie Spikes Bennett. He was retired from CSX Railroad as a Carman.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, looking for arrowheads and going to the Okefenokee Swamp. He was a member of Goodwill Assembly of God Church and really enjoyed his church family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.

 

Survivors include:

Wife:  Marie Burch Bennett of Pearson, Ga.

 

Son: Daniel Bennett and wife Peggy of Pearson, Ga.

 

2 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.

 

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Bennett were held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at New Bethel Cemetery with Rev. Edward Mathews and Sis. Elaine Keene officiating. Special music included “I Want to Stroll Over Heaven with You “and “I’m Bound for That City” by cd. The interment followed in New Bethel Cemetery.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were: D. J. Bennett, D. J. Giddens, Darrell Davis, Josh Benefield, A. J. Harper, and Kaden Callejas.

 

Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
