Mrs. Jannie Giddens, age 81 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Friday, August 5, 2022, at her daughter's home in Pearson, Ga. following an extended illness. She was born in Pearson, Ga. on August 26, 1940, the daughter of Joe and Mamie Mathews Crosby. Mrs. Giddens made her home here in Pearson where she took great pride in raising and providing for her family. She was employed with Cady Bag Co. for 15 years and was also a farmer and homemaker. Mrs. Giddens enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching the tv show, “Gunsmoke”, but some of her favorite times, whether it was fishing, gardening, or cooking, were spent with her family. She was a member of Union Hill Congregational Christian Church and was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Riley “Runt” Giddens, and a son, Vernon Giddens. Survivors include: Daughter: Carrie Lang and husband Alex of Pearson, Ga. 2 Sons: Keith Haskins of Pearson, Ga. Roger Giddens and wife Vicky of Pearson, Ga. 3 Children She Raised: Windell Giddens and wife Diane of Douglas, Ga. Gloria Giddens of Douglas, Ga. David Giddens of Douglas, Ga. Sister: Tessie Burch of Axson, Ga. 12 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Giddens were held on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Union Hill Church with Rev. Edward Mathews and Bro. Bruce Corbitt officiating. Special musical selections included, “I’ll Be Waiting at the River for You”, “Go Rest High on that Mountain” and “Will the Circle be Unbroken” all rendered by cd. The interment followed in Union Hill Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Johnny Haskins, Sammy Giddens, Kenneth Haskins, Shaun Vining, Ashley Giddens, Henry Haskins, and Little Keith Haskins. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Julian Haskins, D.Q. Pittman, and Bethany Hospice. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
