Jamie Royals

February 26, 1975 — June 16, 2022

Mr. Jamie Royals, age 47 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Lanier County, Ga.  Jamie was born, February 26, 1975, in Homerville, Ga., the son of Jennell Royals.  Jamie lived in Lakeland, Ga. for many years as Jamie Thomas.  Most of his life, Jamie made his home in Pearson where he took great pride in being a volunteer firefighter and first responder for the Atkinson County areas.  He served as Deputy Sheriff in Atkinson, Echols, and Lanier County.  He loved serving his community.  Jamie enjoyed anything outdoors, like hunting and fishing and he also loved animals.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Jamie was preceded in death by his dad, Lawton Thomas.

Survivors include:

Mother:  Jennelle Royals Thomas of Pearson, Ga.

Son:  Dalton Royals of Pearson, Ga.

Brother:  Cole Flanders of Pearson, Ga.

3 Sisters:  Holly Meeks and husband, Landon of Axson, Ga.

                Misty Dixon and husband, Brian of Douglas, Ga.

                Karey Flanders McKinnon of Pearson, Ga.

Several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with many other relatives also survive.  

Graveside funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Burnt Church Cemetery in Lakeland, Ga. with Elder Stevie Sirmans officiating, and opening prayer given by Sis. Cathy Sirmans along with special song “Simple Man” being rendered by cd.  The interment followed in Burnt Church Cemetery with dedication of the grave given by Bro. Rick Fogle.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Bernard Zimmerman, Benny Dean, Justin Morgan, Adam Royals, David Royals, and Andy Royals.

Jamie was lovingly laid to rest beside his dad, Lawton Thomas.  Many families and friends came to the service to show their love and respect for Jamie.  The service was beautiful.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
