James Edward McGuire

March 5, 1939 — January 26, 2021

Mr. James Edward "Pops" McGuire, age 81 of Lakeland, Ga., passed away, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home, following an extended illness.  A native of Pensacola, Florida, Mr. McGuire was born, March 5, 1939, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fulton E. and Maebelle Boyington McGuire.  He worked for many years with American Bridge Company as an Iron Worker.  Coming from the Melbourne and Palm Bay Florida area, Mr. McGuire made his home in Lakeland for the past nine years, where he attended Love Joy Community Church.  He was a "jack of all trades" who loved reading his Bible, watching the birds and enjoying a nice cup of coffee.  Mr. McGuire was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his son; James Dale McGuire and a sister; Gloria Allgood.

Survivors include:  

Wife:  Paula Ruth McGuire of Lakeland, Ga.

4 Sons:  Kenny Moore and wife, Dawn of Nashville, Ga.

             Coyce Moore and wife, Karen of Melbourne, Fl.

             Douglas McGuire and wife, Joan of Palm Bay, Fl.

             Marcus McGuire of Lakeland, Ga.

Daughter:  Brenda Adams and husband, Ronnie of Nashville, Ga.

Brother:  Karl Eugene McGuire and wife, Bunny of Clermont, Fl.

Several Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. McGuire were held, Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Love Joy Community Church in Lakeland, Ga. with Rev. Mike Sarasola officiating.  Special musical selections included, "When I Said I Do", "Where the Roses Never Fade", "Lead Me Home" and "Amazing Grace".  The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery in Pearson, Ga. with special song, "Go Rest High on that Mountain".

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Kenny Moore, Ronnie Adams, Coyce Moore, Douglas McGuire, Ken Moore, Leslie Poynter and Brennan McGuire.  

Serving as honorary pallbearers were:  Brandon McGuire, Corey McGuire and Coyce Moore, III

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
