James Love Griner

January 17, 1951 — October 4, 2022

Mr. James Love Griner, age 71 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga., following an extended illness.

Mr. Griner was born January 17, 1951, in Ft. Pierce, Fl., son of Quincy and Katie Bell Shiver Griner. He had made his home in Willacoochee for most of his life and was a mobile home transporter known as “Gatorfoot” by his colleagues. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and more than anything his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Vinnie Courson, Bertha Smith, and Gladys Lowe as well as a brother, Quincy Griner, Jr.

Survivors include:

Wife:  "Monk" Shirley Griner of Willacoochee, Ga.

Daughter:  Mandy Giddens and husband, Josh of Pearson, Ga.

2 Brothers:  John Griner and wife, Pam of Ft. Pierce, Fla.

                  Jerry Griner and wife, Esther of Willacoochee, Ga.

Sister:  Emma Lottie Griner of West Palm Beach, Fla.

2 Grandchildren:  Jayme Crews and husband, Cory

                             Axle Giddens and wife, Chasity

3 Great-Grandchildren:  Attleigh Bedgood, Illa Crews and Amelia Giddens

Several nieces, nephews, and cousins along with several other family members also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Griner were held, Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Willacoochee Christian Church, (Formerly Willacoochee United Methodist Church), with Rev Kevin Vickers officiating. Special music included “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, Will The Circle Be Unbroken”, and “Just One Rose Will Do” were rendered by soloist Derick Soles with CD accompaniment.  The interment followed in Willacoochee City Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers were:  Gabe Luke, Jordan Luke, Brady Luke, Tommy Luke, Richard Luke, and James Henry Brown.

Honorary pallbearers were: Mobile home transporters and escort personnel.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
