Henry Cecil Spivey

December 10, 1943 — May 5, 2022

Mr. Henry Cecil Spivey, age 78 of Axson, Ga. passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, at his home following an extended illness.  He was born, December 10, 1943, in Pearson, Ga. to Cecil and Margie Kinnon Spivey.  Mr. Spivey made his home in Axson, where he, along with his wife, took great care in raising their family.  He served as a Police Officer for the city of Pearson, where he retired as Sergeant, after 32 years of service.  In his spare time, Mr. Spivey loved fishing, hunting, and being outside working in his yard, but his most precious time was spent making memories with his family, especially his grandkids.  He was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his wife, Mary Margaret Arnold Spivey, and 3 sisters: Helen Giddens, Francis Edwards and Minnie Sue Lindsey.

Survivors include:

3 Sons:  Christopher Spivey of Blackshear, Ga.

               Henry Cecil “Boo Boo” Spivey of Axson, Ga.

               Barry Hambilton of Axson, Ga.

 

2 Daughters:  Rosa Luke and husband Wesley of Pearson, Ga

                       Mary Rodriguez of Prosperity, S.C.

7 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Spivey were held on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the Axson Cemetery in Axson, Ga. with Rev. Edward Mathews officiating. Special musical selections included, “He Walked on Water” and “Amazing Grace” both rendered by cd. The interment followed in the Axson Cemetery where Sgt. Spivey’s “Last Call” was conducted by the Pearson Police Department and Tri-County 911 Center.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Trent White, Josh Freeman, Ben Spivey, Michael Royals, George Arnold and Matt Gurley.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were members of the Pearson Police Department.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
