We regretfully announce the passing of our mother, Ginger Ray Paulk.  Ginger was 69 years old and passed away peacefully, on Monday, January 29, 2024, in Douglas, Ga., at the home of her daughter, Chrystal.
Ginger is survived by her children: Chrystal (Brian) Vining of Douglas; Mark (Becky) Ladson of Nashville; Sandy (Jerry) Hudson of Nashville; 4 brothers: Marshall Paulk, Jr. (Linda) of Mt. Vernon, Michael Paulk (Pam) of Willacoochee, Forest Paulk (Judy) of Dahlonega, and Victor Paulk (Angie) of Valdosta. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Ms. Paulk is preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Edward and Harriet Ray Gaskins Paulk; brother, Bryan Paulk; 2 sisters, Sherry Joiner and Vicky Paulk; sister-in-law, Kathy Paulk; and 2 dogs, Little Dog and Buddy.
 

Ginger was born on October 16, 1954, to the late Marshall and Harriet Paulk of Willacoochee. Ginger graduated from Abraham Baldwin College with a degree in nursing.  She accepted a position as a registered nurse for Coffee Regional Medical Center and later at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.   She was an exceptional nurse who cared deeply for her patients and had a passion for helping people. 
 Ginger was witty, social, and active. She was deeply involved in the Red Hat Society for a number of years.  As a passionate animal lover, she was an advocate for Cause to Paws and fostering pets. She was a creative individual with many talents and hobbies; she used her artistic gifts to paints rocks, construct Christmas ornaments and cross stich amazing designs.   She was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and resilience.   Her friends and loved ones will always remember her as a unique person who enjoyed life and laughed often. Ginger’s children would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Pat Hill-Hallisey, who was a dedicated and true friend to Ginger.

 

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Beulah Church with Rev. Mary Ann Braswell officiating.  Special musical selections included, “I’ll Fly Away” and “Amazing Grace” rendered by the congregation, accompanied by, Tammy Paulk at the piano, who also provided soft music for the Prelude and Postlude.  The interment followed in Willacoochee City Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were: Dalton Money, Nathan Vining, Brandon Vining, Klint Ladson, Klay Ladson, and Parker Gaines.  

Honorary pallbearers were: Jimmy Corbitt, Red Hat Sisters, Pearson Senior Citizens, Don Taylor, Kipp Pittman, and Konner Ladson

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
