Mr. Foster T. Davis, age 97, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Monday, July 14, 2024, at Lakeside Senior Living in Douglas, Ga. following a short illness.
A native of Nicholls, Ga., Mr. Davis was born September 22, l926, son of Albert and Mandy Taylor Davis. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He moved to Pearson in l948 where he was a crude gum buyer and operated the Turpentine Still. He later went to work with Union Camp, retiring after many years. He then went to work with the American Turpentine Farmers Association for 12 years. He served two terms as Mayor of Pearson and was a member of American Legion Post #l73, and Pearson Lodge F&AM #163. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pearson where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Martin Davis, son Foster T. (Den) Davis, Jr., an infant daughter and 3 sisters, Jewell Propes, Dorothy Davis, and Wanell Register.
Survivors Include
Brother: Denny Davis and wife Lynda of Waycross, Ga.
Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. with Mr. Jerome Crosby and Mr. Adam Barnes officiating. Special music included “The Promise” presented by cd and “Victory In Jesus” by soloist Debby Davis. The interment with Military Honors followed in Satilla Memorial Gardens.
Serving as active pallbearers were Kenneth Davis, Sr., Kenneth Davis, Jr., James Gore, Lamar Woodall, Jay Crosby, and Hunter Davis.
Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
