Florence McMillan Futch

October 27, 1936 — December 27, 2022

Mrs. Florence McMillan Futch, age 86 of Willacoochee, Ga., passed away at her home, surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday night, December 27, 2022, following an extended illness.  She was born, October 27, 1936, in Willacoochee, Ga., daughter of Quincy & Stella Tucker McMillan.  Mrs. Florence made her home in Willacoochee, where she, along with her husband, took great pride in caring, providing for and raising their family.  She worked for over thirty years, until her retirement, as payroll clerk for Amoco Fabrics. 

An active member of Willacoochee First Baptist Church, Mrs. Florence exemplified a true follower of Christ, as she served in the church throughout many years in many different roles such as, social director, a member of the building committee, and singing in the choir.  Mrs. Florence enjoyed spending time with those whom she loved, including friends and family, especially her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Clyde Futch, Sr., and 3 brothers: Earl McMillan, Lawton McMillan, and J.Q. McMillan.  Mrs. Florence will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her and take comfort in knowing that all the memories made, along with her loving spirit, will continue in the lives of her family for generations to come.

Son:  Clyde Futch, Jr. and wife, Bonnie of Douglas, Ga.

2 Daughters:  Ginny Nelson of Willacoochee, Ga.

                     Kelli Stewart and husband, Lucas of Thomasville, Ga.

Twin Sister:  Florene McMillan Bobo of McDonough, Ga.

Sister-in-Laws:  Glenda Futch Yawn of Willacoochee, Ga.

                       Wynelle Giddens McMillan of Lilburn, Ga.

                        Nancy Williams Futch of Pearson, Ga.

Special Friend:  Peggy Johnson of Willacoochee, Ga.

7 Grandchildren:  John Edward "Tripp" Nelson, III and wife, Heather

                         Trenton Howell Nelson and wife, Ashley

                         Clyde Howell "Trey" Futch, III and wife, Mstar

                         Traci Futch

                         Randall Caroline Stewart

                         Catherine McMillan Stewart

                         Audra Lucas Stewart, IV

Several nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with many other relatives, also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Futch were held, Friday, December 30, 2022, at Willacoochee First Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Joe Taft and Rev. Walt Deloach officiating, along with a special reading, given by Jayna McMillan.  Musical selections included, “Victory in Jesus” and “Amazing Grace” rendered by the congregation with Tammy Gaskins Paulk accompanying at the piano, and “Beulah Land” rendered by soloist and pianist, Tammy Gaskins Paulk, who also provided soft music for the Prelude and Postlude.  The interment was held in the Willacoochee City Cemetery.  

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Tripp Nelson, Trey Futch, Trenton Nelson, Luke Stewart, Jay Nelson, and Lucas Stewart. 

On behalf of Mrs. Florence, the family would like to give a heartfelt and sincere tribute of appreciation to Bethany Hospice for the respect and loving care they gave to her.  

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Willacoochee First Baptist Church.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
