Emmanuel Tanner

August 21, 1963 — August 23, 2022

Mr. Emmanuel Tanner, Sr., age 59 of Axson, Ga., passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following a brief illness.  He was born, August 21, 1963, in Douglas, Ga., son of Mr. Manning W. and Charlene Williams Tanner.  Mr. Tanner was a heavy equipment operator, as well as, Assistant Supervisor with the Atkinson County Road Department, who worked hard all his life and took great pride in providing for his family.  Mr. Tanner enjoyed fishing, singing, and playing the guitar, anything as long as he was spending time and making memories with his greatest blessing of all, his family, whom he deeply loved.  Those memories will be cherished, never to be forgotten.  Mr. Tanner was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his brother, Dillard Tanner.

Survivors include:

Wife:  Shirley Ann Tanner of Axson, Ga.

2 Sons:  Emmanuel Michael Tanner of Axson, Ga.

             Wiley Tanner and wife, Ann of Axson, Ga.

Daughter:  Amanda Tanner of Axson, Ga.

Brother:  Chaffter Tanner and wife, Denise of Axson, Ga.

Sister:  Debbie Lott and husband, Richard of Pearson, Ga.

10 Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.  

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Tanner were held, Friday, August 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Hall Cemetery in Nicholls, Ga. with Rev. Clyde Purvis officiating.  Special musical selections included, “Go Rest High”, “Lead Me Home”, and “Grandpa’s Never Die” rendered by cd.  The interment followed in Hall Cemetery.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Chaffter Tanner, Patrick Lott, Jake Lott, William Lott, Brandon Hartley, and Michael Tanner. 

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
