Mr. Edward Lee Cothern, age 78, Pearson, Ga. passed away Thursday night, January 30, 2020 at his home following an extended illness.
A native of Alma, Ga., Mr. Cothern was born December 30, l941, son of Clifford Lee and Stella Taylor Cothern. He was a retired parts store manager and a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed camping, outside activities and being with family and friends. He was a member of Ozias Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by l brother, Linton Cothern, 2 sisters, Lula Phillips and Lucy Hewitt and his first wife, Doris Ann Hudson.
Survivors include:
Wife of 30 years: Linda McKinnon Cothern of Pearson, Ga.
Son: Brian Sean Cothern of Pearson, Ga.
2 Sisters: Lois Davis of Yuma, Az.
Louise Taylor and husband, Dub of Alma, Ga.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Cothern were held, Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Special music included “Long Black Train” presented by CD and “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be” and “Lead Me Home” were rendered by Michael Johnson with Michael accompanying on the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by Michael Johnson. The interment with Military Honors followed in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were, James Corbitt, Greg Soles, Glen Walker, David Taylor, Bernard Pelz and Tyler Mizell. Honorary pallbearers were, Charlene Mizell, Maxine Smith, Roger Mizell, George and Gail Cox, Kathy O’Neal, Sherry Kight and Bethany Hospice.
Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
