Mrs. Edith Cavell Davis Solvang, age 93, of Douglas, Ga., formerly of Atkinson County, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Lakeside Senior Living in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness.
Mrs. Solvang was born in Pearson, Ga. on September 9, 1931, to the late Harley and Rosa Lee Vickers Davis. Mrs. Solvang moved to Seattle where she worked for many years as a bookkeeper, and after her husband passed away, she moved back to Georgia to be near her family. Mrs. Solvang enjoyed gardening, reading, antiques, shopping, and fishing with her family. She was also an excellent cook and homemaker. She attended St. Illa Baptist Church in Douglas, Ga. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Solvang was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie Solvang, 3 brothers, Thomas Davis, Harley “Buck” Davis, Jr. and Melvin Davis, 3 sisters, Devote Mizell, Rose Mary Oliff, and Simmeon Gillis and stepson, Greg Solvang.

Son: Randy Solvang and wife Patricia of Camano Island, WA.
Step Daughter-In-Law: Paula Solvang of Camano Island, WA.
Sister: Margaret Davis Grantham (Jimmy) of Willacoochee, Ga.
Sister-In Law- Myrtle Davis of Pearson, Ga.
Several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Solvang were held on Saturday, May 03, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Terry Reagan, officiating and the Eulogy by her nephew Ashley Gillis. Special music included “Amazing Grace”, and “In the Garden” played by Anna Grace Miller, violist. The interment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Josh Grantham, Jason Grantham, Andy Gillis, Logan Gillis, Delbert Davis and H. F. Mizell.
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
