Doris Jewell Mizell

Mrs. Doris Jewell Mizell, age 84 years old, of Axson, Ga. passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at Vista Park in Douglas, Ga following an extended illness.  She was born in Douglas, Ga. on February 12, 1940, to Isom and Oneda Phillips Jewell.   Mrs. Mizell was a homemaker who loved cooking, working on the farm, and doing any and everything she could to take care of, and show love, to her family.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was preceded in death, along with her parents, by her husband, Roy Mizell, Jr., her son; Faron Mizell, 3 brothers; Harvey, Merrill, and Gerald Jewell, and 2 sisters; Bernice Crosby and Barbara Knight.  Mrs. Mizell was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.  Her kind and loving spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of her family.

 

Survivors include:

 

2 Sons:   Wesley Mizell and wife Teresa of Axson, Ga.

               Harvey Mizell “Lil John” of Axson, Ga.

 

Brother:   J.R. Jewell and wife Darlene of Douglas, Ga.

 

3 Sisters:   Shirley Miller and husband Billy of Douglas, Ga.

                 Judy Jewell of Douglas, Ga.

                 Donna Paulk and husband Ronald of Alma, Ga.

 

6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

 

Graveside funeral service for Mrs. Mizell was held on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Utah Cemetery in Axson, Ga. with Rev. Edward Mathews and Bro. Steve Sirmans officiating, with a special song, “Go Rest High on that Mountain” rendered by cd.   The interment followed in Utah Cemetery with dedication of the grave given by Bro. Steve Sirmans.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Eric Mizell, Dade Mizell, Bailey Mizell, Clay Davis, Johnny Davis, and Damon Mizell.

 

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
