Devin L. Smith, born on May 28, 1994, in Waycross, Ga., passed away on May 14, 2024, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. He was known for making people laugh, spending quality time with his family, working with vehicles, enjoying the serenity of fishing, mastering the art of grilling, and planning for his own garage APES Auto Repair. Devin dedicated a decade of his life working at B & M Auto in Douglas, Ga., leaving a mark through his hard work and dedication.
 
Devin's warm spirit and humorous nature touched the lives of many around him. His ability to bring joy and laughter to those he encountered will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
 
He is survived by his beloved wife Imelda Smith of Pearson, Ga., daughter Elena Smith of Pearson, Ga., as well as two adopted children Abram Aguirre and Paisley Delk. Devin is also survived by his parents Chuck and Jalynn Smith of Dixie Union, Ga., mother Karen Sheffield of Phoenix City, Al., father in-law and mother in-law Newton and Debbie Cox of Axson, Ga., three brothers: William Carter and wife Arely of Orlando, Fl., Leye Roy Carter and wife Emily of Brooklet, Ga., Shane Justus of Columbus, Ga., three sisters: Brooke Peterson of Waycross, Ga., Victoria Caitlin and husband Jimmy of Fort Riley, Ks., Autumn Smith of Columbus, Ga., grandparents Roy and Jackie Revels of Waycross, Ga., along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Devin was preceded in death by his brother, Austin Smith.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Smith were held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Sanctuary Church in Douglas, Ga. with Rev. R.B. Gaskins, Rev. Steve Anderson, and Rev. Bob Powell officiating. Special music included “Wish You Were Here”, “Thy Will”, and “Go Rest High on That Mountain” presented by cd. The interment followed with a special song “Give Heaven Some Hell” at the Rome Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Dixie Union, Ga.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were: Leye Roy Carter, William Carter, Shane Justus, De’Andre Holloman, Ryan Taft, and Jimmie Catlin, Jr.

 

Honorary pallbearers were: Tony Smith and Mike Nelson

 

Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
