Charlie James Adams

March 1, 1950 — December 28, 2022

Mr. Charlie James Adams, age 72 years old, of Axson, Ga. passed away, Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.  He was born in Wilcox County, on March 1, 1950, son of John B. and Ola Smith Adams.  Mr. Adams made his home, for most of his life, in Axson where he worked as a mechanic and livestock dairyman.  He took great pride in caring and providing for his family.  Mr. Adams loved working with livestock and loved his animals, as well.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his son, Harvey Adams, 4 brothers; Clarence, Buddy, J.W and John B. Adams, and 3 sisters;  Evelyn Casteen, Juanita Tanner, and Dell Curry.

Survivors include: 

Wife:  Kitty Fosgate Adams of Axson, Ga.

3 Sons:  James Adams and wife, Elizabeth of Longview, Tx.

             Clarence Adams and wife, Virginia of Thomasville, Ga.

             Mitchell Adams and wife, Amanda of Metcalf, Ga.

7 Daughters:  Vanessa Calhoun and husband, Adam of Boston, Ga.

                     Lori Branch of Axson, Ga.

                     Terri Jones and husband, Justin of Nichols, Ga.

                     Katherine Tinajero and husband, Eleazin of Axson, Ga.

                     Alicia Murphy and husband, Chuck of Tallahassee, Fla.

                     Sheila Davis of Homerville, Ga.

                     Joy Lee Adams of Homerville, Ga.

Sister:  Leola Strickland of Waycross, Ga.

34 Grandchildren, along with several Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives, also survive.

Graveside services for Mr. Adams were held, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Jowers Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Durrance officiating.  Special musical selections included, “I Can Only Imagine”, Washed in the Blood” and “Amazing Grace” all rendered by cd.  The interment followed at Jowers Cemetery in Axson, Ga. with U.S. Military Honors rendered by Navy Region Southeast.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Clarence Adams, Eleazin Tinajero, Justin Jones, Rodney Bunn, Gunner Calhoun, and Dylan Jones.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were:  Cleveland Calhoun, and Mason Bunn.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
