Carlton McDowell

October 17, 1942 — July 27, 2021

Mr. Angus Carlton McDowell, age 78 of Millwood, Ga., passed away, Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at his home following an extended illness.  He was born on October 17, 1942, son of Mr. and Mrs. Angus Alford and Marie Love McDowell.  Mr. McDowell worked with the GATX Railroad and in his spare time enjoyed many hobbies like bird hunting, fishing and dirt and Nascar Racing.  His most precious time spent was always with his family.  Not only did he take pride in taking care of those around him, but he loved and enjoyed those moments.  Mr. McDowell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was preceded in death by his parents.  Though he will be missed here, his smile and loving spirit will continue on in his most treasured blessing of all, his family.

Wife:  Dollie Simmons McDowell

3 Sons:  Dennis McDowell and wife, Charlotte of Millwood, Ga.

             Glen McDowell and wife, Ellen of Naylor, Ga.

             Ricky McDowell and wife, Michelle of Millwood, Ga.

3 Brothers:  Bill McDowell of Thomasville, Ga.

                  Roger McDowell of Blakely, Ga.

                  Ted McDowell of Blakely, Ga.

6 Grandchildren:  Amanda Dixon, Travis McDowell, Jonathon McDowell, Dale McDowell, Chelsey McDowell and Amber Peterson

10 Great-Grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. McDowell will be held, Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Pearson, Ga. with Bishop Clee Sirmans, Elder Stevie Sirmans and Rev. Clayton Davis officiating.  The interment will follow in the Axson Cemetery.

Visitation for Mr. McDowell will be held, Friday, July 30, 2021 at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Mr. McDowell will lie-in-state Saturday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Attendees are asked to comply with the current standards and guidelines regarding containment of the Coronavirus including masks and social distancing.
