Betty Sue Anderson Stone

January 20, 1947 — August 21, 2019

Mrs. Betty Sue Anderson Stone, age 72 of Nicholls, Ga. passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at her sister's home, following an extended illness. 

Mrs. Stone was born in Pearson, Ga. on January 20, l947, to the late Albert and Sarah Ann Hutchinson Anderson. She was a homemaker and worked at Wal Mart for many years.  She made her home in St. Augustine, Fl. for 20 years before moving to Nicholls some 34 years ago and in her spare time she enjoyed walking, fishing, working in her flowers and yard, playing golf and swimming. She was a member of New Bethel Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Christine Summerlin and Allene Spivey.

Survivors include:

Husband:  Donald Stone of Nichols, Ga.

 

Son:  Travis Wayne Stone and wife, Shonda of Alma, Ga.

 

3 Daughters:  Melissa Ann Kirby and husband, Dale of Jasper, Ga.

                     Vicky Arlene Davis and husband, Fred of St. Augustine, Fla.

                     Donna Kaye Stone of Douglas, Ga.

 

Brother:  J.A. Anderson of Pearson, Ga.

 

8 Sisters:  Lou Annie Musgrove and husband, Bill of Douglas, Ga.

                Carol Mizell and husband, Joe of Homerville, Ga.

                Laverne Merritt and husband, James of Nicholls, Ga.

                Helen Sweat and husband, Bill of Douglas, Ga.

                Margaret Davis of Pearson, Ga.

                Geraldene Sewell and husband, Herman of Sylvester, Ga.

                Maxine Woodall and husband, Tim of Jesup, Ga.

                Brenda Sue Davis and husband, Clyde of Homerville, Ga.

 

12 Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stone were held, Sunday, August 25, 2019 at New Bethel Church at 3:00 P.M. with Bro. Clyde Purvis and Bro. David Cheshire officiating. Special music included “When I’m Gone” and “No One Can Wear My Robe”, rendered by CD and “Amazing Grace” by the attending congregation.  The internment followed in New Bethel Cemetery. 

 

Serving as active pallbearers were: Carey Davis, William Summerlin, Jake Anderson, Kevin Spivey,

Sean McElroy, and Joseph Mizell.

 

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. in charge of the arrangements.
