Bera Mae Gaskin

October 5, 1937 — January 20, 2020

Mrs. Bera “B” Morgan Gaskin, age 82, of Axson, Ga. passed away, Monday, January 20, 2020 at her home following an extended illness.

 

A native of Tallapoosa, Ga., Mrs. Gaskin was born October 5, l937, daughter of Grady and Willie Spillers Morgan. She and her husband Russell lived in Atlanta for many years before moving back to Axson in l972.

She worked for many years as secretary and program writer for the Atkinson County ASCS Office. After, retiring, she enjoyed traveling, serving as a Pink Lady with Coffee Regional Medical Center and working with the Atkinson County Election Commission, Axson District. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Russell Gaskin, son-in-law, Marlow Corbitt, 3 brothers, Emory, Russell, and Ernest Morgan and 2 sisters, Victoria White and Alma Kilgore.

 

Survivors include:

 

2 Daughters: Donna Corbitt of Axson, Ga.

                     Mauria Disharoon and husband, Wayne of Axson, Ga.

 

Sister: Bernice Entrekin of LaGrange, Ga.

 

5 Grandchildren: Kristy Shaw and husband, Jason of Valdosta, Ga

                             Mark Corbitt and wife, Miranda of Valdosta, Ga.

                             Keith Disharoon and wife, Crissy of Axson, Ga.

                             Rick Disharoon and wife, Brittany of Axson, Ga.

                             Kayla Musgrove and husband, Andy of Axson, Ga.

 

7 Great-Grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Gaskin were held, Thursday, January 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Axson, Ga. with Rev. Jack Chaney officiating. Special music included “Go Rest High on That Mountain” rendered by her grandson, Mark Corbitt and “Amazing Grace” and “Swing Wide the Gates” presented by the congregation with Debra Corbitt leading and Patricia Corbitt accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by Patricia Corbitt, pianist. The interment followed in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were, Mark Corbitt, Keith Disharoon, Rick Disharoon, Rick Davis, Scott Davis, and Darrell Loveless. Honorary pallbearers were, Jean and Dougal Gillis, Mary Alice and Hugh Davis, Myrtle Davis, Leon Spivey, Karen Moore, and Rex and Randall Morgan,

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
