Benny C. Reliford, Sr.

June 8, 1958 — July 17, 2022

Mr. Benny Reliford, Sr., age 64 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022, at his home in Pearson, Ga. following a brief illness.  Born in Huffer, Ga. on June 8, 1958, the son of Clarence and Willie Mae Harrell Reliford, he made his home in the Atkinson and Coffee County areas where he worked with the Atkinson County Road Department for many years as an equipment operator.  Mr. Reliford also enjoyed helping and serving his community as a volunteer firefighter and first responder for 13 years.  He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Mr. Reliford was preceded in death, along with his parents, by his daughter, Amanda Newborn, sister; Mary Stone and 3 brothers; Clarence, Jr., Monroe, and Lonnie Reliford.

Survivors include:

3 Sons:  Moses Reliford and fiancé Aggie Miller of Pearson, Ga.

              Benny Carol Reliford, Jr. and wife Megan of Pearson, Ga.

              Ben William “Watermelon” Reliford and wife Donna of Douglas, Ga.

2 Daughters:  Melissa Davis and fiancé Olton Young of Manor, Ga.

                       Misty Raven Douglas of Pearson, Ga.

Brother:  Bill Reliford of Douglas, Ga.

Sister:  Linda Gail Stone of Pearson, Ga.

21 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Reliford were held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Relihan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randal Rhymes and Rev. Hardy Crosby officiating. Special musical selection, “Lead Me Home” and “The Dance” both rendered by cd.  The interment followed in Royals Cemetery where Lt. Reliford’s “Last Call” was conducted by the Pearson, Willacoochee, Axson (PWA) Fire Department and Tri- County 911 Center.

Serving as active pallbearers were:  Cpt. Brian Schotsh, Brett Taylor, Lt. Don Murray, Jr., Lt. Steve Marchman, Chief Lee Pittman, and Zycarreous Starks. 

Serving as honorary pallbearers were member of the Atkinson County Volunteer Fire Department.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
