Joan Novara Vickers

Mrs. Novara McKinnon Vickers age 70 of Douglas, Ga. formerly of Pearson, Ga. passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County Mrs. Vickers was born May 1, l939 daughter of Horace and Lannie Douglas McKinnon. She was a homemaker and a member of New Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include: Husband: George Elle Vickers of Douglas, Ga. 2 Daughters: Joan Vickers of Douglas, Ga. Christina Moore-Sharon of Ypsilanti, Mich. 1 Brother: Douglas McKinnon of Pearson, Ga. 1 Sister: Judy Russ and husband Harry of Pearson, Ga. 3 Grandchildren: Arabi Vickers of Douglas, Ga. Emily Moore and Tyler Moore of Ypsilanti, Mich. 1 Great Grand child: Bryce Pena of Douglas, Ga. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Vickers were held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, October 10, 2009 at New Harmony Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Don Harper, Rev. Lonnie Spikes and Rev. Jimmy Spikes officiating. Special musical selections included "The Old Rugged Cross", "Amazing Grace" and "I'll Fly Away" rendered by the congregation with Al Wayne Hulsey accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude by Al Wayne Hulsey pianist. The interment followed in Harmony Grove Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Jeremy Russ, Charlie Russ, Chris Pena, Douglas McKinnon, Jr., Derrick McKinnon and Tyler Moore. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
