Mrs. Willie Mae Courson age 81 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Irwin County, Mrs. Courson was born September 28, 1928 daughter of Tommy and Mattie Miller Stephens. She was a homemaker and a member of Sweetwater Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Courson and a son DeWayne Courson. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Gail Clement and Fiancé' George Cox of Pearson, Ga. 1 Son: Ricky Courson and wife Deborah of Pearson, Ga. 3 Grandchildren: Jim Clement and wife Brandy of Pearson, Ga. James Clement and wife Nicole of Pearson, Ga. Alexis Courson of Pearson, Ga. 5 Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Courson were held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday December 13, 2009 at Sweetwater Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. Mitchell Deems officiating. Soloist Christy Youngblood with Mitchell Deems accompanying at the piano rendered special musical selections "Just One Rose Will Do" and "Where Angels Fear To Thread". Pianist Mitchell Deems played soft music for the Prelude and Postlude. The interment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Roy Haskins, George Davis, Shane Hersey, Hank Sizemore, Gene Sizemore and Tony Youngblood. Honorary pallbearer was Julian Haskins. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
