Eston Daniel Metts

Mr. Eston D. Metts age 95 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Friday, March 12, 2010 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Metts was born July l0, l914 son of Elijah and Deliah McMillan Metts in a part of Coffee County that is now Atkinson County. He had been a resident of Summer's Landing for the past several years. He was a former business owner and retired from the State of Georgia Department of Transportation. He served several terms as a County Commissioner in Atkinson County and was a member of the Shriner's and Willacoochee Masonic Lodge #l97 F& AM. His church membership was at Willacoochee United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law Thomas "Tom" McGovern and a granddaughter, Regina "Gina" McGovern. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Marjorie McGovern of Willacoochee, Ga. 2 Sons: Jerry Metts and wife Georgianne of Alligator Point, Fl. Jimmy Metts and wife Betty Ann of Pearson, Ga. 6 Grandchildren: Dawn M. Lewis and husband Larry of Pearson, Ga. Jerry K. Metts II and wife Tammy of Pearson, Ga. Shane M. Metts and wife Lisa of Pearson, Ga. Kim DeValle and husband David of Cairo, Ga. Jimmy Metts Jr. and wife Karmen of Pearson,. Ga. Kevin McGovern and wife Caroline of Willacoochee, Ga. 12 Great-Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews also survived. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Metts were held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Willacoochee City Cemetery with Rev. John Jacobs and Rev. Jim Duvall officiating. Special music included "How Great Thou Art" rendered acappella by soloist Craig McKinnon and "Amazing Grace" rendered by all attending the service. The interment followed in the Willacoochee City Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Jerry K. Metts II, Shane M. Metts, Stewart Metts, Kevin McGovern, Larry V. Lewis, and David DeValle. Relihan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
