Mrs. Virginia M. Morris age 85 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Tuesday, April 6, 20l0 at Summer's Landing in Douglas, Ga. following a short illness. Born May 9, l924 in Atkinson County, Mrs. Morris was the daughter of Virgil and Lucille Davis McKinnon. Mrs. Morris was a former Secretary of the Atkinson County Board of Education. She was very active in the community having served as President of the Farm Bureau, Women's Club President and was active in the annual March of Dimes fundraiser. After retirement she focused on being a homemaker and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her church membership was at New Harmony Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years was Homecoming Chairman for many years and was on the Harmony Grove Cemetery committee. Her husband W. T. Morris preceded her in death. Survivors include: 1 Son: Larry Morris and wife Brenda of Pearson, Ga. 1 Daughter: Lou Hennesy and husband Joey of Douglas, Ga. 1 Sister: Lois Fambrough of Crawfordville, Ga. 4 Grandchildren: Ray Morris and wife Kylie of Valdosta, Ga. Laura Hennesy of Douglas, Ga. Jeff Hennesy and wife Kellye of Douglas, Ga. Matt Hennesy and wife Lou of Douglas, Ga. 3 Great Grandchildren: Addison Morris, Jay Hennesy and Holley Ryan Hennesy Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Morris were held at 2:00 P. M. Sunday, April 11, 20l0 at New Harmony Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Don Harper and Rev. Marty Wilkes officiating. Special musical selections included "What A Day That Will Be", "How Great Thou Art", and "Amazing Grace" rendered by The New Harmony Grove Church Choir with Al Wayne Hulsey at the piano. Soloist John Kent with Al Wayne Hulsey at the piano rendered "In the Garden". Al Wayne Hulsey pianist played soft Prelude and Postlude music. The interment folowed in New Harmony Grove Church Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Ray Morris, Robert Connell, Jerry Metts, Wayne Grantham, Archie McKinnon and LeGrand Roberts.
