George Washington (G.W.) White

Mr. G.W. White age 84 of Axson, Ga. passed away early Monday morning, July 19, 2010 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County, Mr. White was born October 13, 1925 in Axson, Ga. son of the late Dave and Josie Davis White. He was a retired farmer and member of Axson Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christeen Williams White and a son Robert White. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Linda Gail Davis of Axson, Ga. 4 Sons: George Edwin White and wife Ann of Axson, Ga. Mitchell White of Axson, Ga. Johnny White of Pearson, Ga. Hubert White of Axson, Ga. 1 Brother: James White and wife Lillie Fay of Axson, Ga. 1 Sister: Mary Jane Hood and husband Hiram of Waycross, Ga. 11 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, and several Nieces and Nephews also survives. Graveside funeral services for Mr. White were held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Axson Cemetery with Bishop Steve Sirmans and Rev. Britt Peavy officiating. Special musical selections included "In His Arms I'm Not Afraid" and "Gone Home" rendered by the Sweetwater Creek singers D. Q. Pittman guitar, Huey Jack Bennett mandolin, and Neal Gillis banjo. Also "Farther Along" was rendered by Rev. Britt Peavy (guitar) and Travis Peavy. The interment followed in Axson Cemetery with the dedication of the grave given by Elder David White. Serving as pallbearers were: Joey Davis, Dale Davis, Jeffery Studebaker, Adam Nelson, Timothy Hall, Clee Sirmans, Tom McDonald, Jeremy Harrell, Jorgan Harrell, Jami White and Wad Sears, Jr.. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson was in charge of the arrangements.
