Mr. Benny Arnold age 74 of Axson, Ga. passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Axson, Ga. Mr. Arnold was born February 7, 1937, son of Willie and Willie Mae Gurley Arnold. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. After retiring from the Air Force Mr. Arnold became a poultry farmer and later a over the road truck driver before poor health forced his retirement He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church but also attended Axson Evangelistic Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Arnold. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Tammy Guthrie and husband Jerry of Axson, Ga. 1 Sister: Betty Royals of Dupont, Ga. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Arnold were held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 15, 2011 at Axson Evangelistic Church with Rev. James Drake officiating. Special musical selections included "Go Rest High On That Mountain" rendered by Tammy Wood with cd accompaniment and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye" rendered by Phillip Guthrie with Faith Bennett on the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by Faith Bennett, pianist. The interment with full Military Honors provided by an Honor Guard Contingent from Moody Air Force Base followed in the Axson Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Hank Royals, Paul Guthrie, Tommy Guthrie, Tracy White, Trent White and Nick Hoopiiaina, Honorary Pallbearers were Clyde Gurley, Layne Gurley, Lewis Gurley, Hank Mizell, and Josh White Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
