Orman Earl Mizell

March 24, 1925 — September 5, 2011

Orman Earl Mizell, our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, September 5, 2011. Orman was born in Axson, Georgia on March 24, 1925 to Aaron and Cappie (White) Mizell, the oldest of twelve children. He was raised in Axson, where he attended elementary school, later graduating from Pearson High in 1943. Like his father and grandfathers, Orman was a devoted farmer. He loved the soil and crops, sometimes working them with sweat and watering them with tears. When his father accidentally broke his back farming in 1945, Orman moved his wife and new baby into the home of his parents, so that he could tend his father's farm, along with his crops, and his wife took care of his siblings for that year, while Papa Buzz was hospitalized in Atlanta. He met Margaret Hettie Musgrove, the love of his life, while attending Pearson High School. They married in Millwood, Georgia on July 1, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Orman felt that one of his greatest accomplishments in life, other than his beloved family, were the opportunities that he and Margaret had to serve as Temple and Genealogical missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They served in the England Genealogical Center on England's 1880 Census, and in the Washington, DC and Atlanta, Ga. Temples, for a total of 5 missions. He was preceded in death by a son, Roy Earl (Buddy) Mizell, 16 months ago and his beloved wife, Margaret, 9 years ago. Also preceding him in death were his parents and 9 siblings and Margaret's parents and 5 of her siblings. Orman is survived by his daughter, Margie (Jan) Anderson of Payson, Utah, his son Jesse Wayne (Tracy) Mizell of Axson, his daughter-in-law, Gisela Mizell, of Axson and Ohio, 2 brothers, Aaron Mizell Jr. (Jean) of Warner Robins, Ga., and Harold Mizell (Kathryn) of Mineral Bluff, Ga., a sister-in-law, Vonnell Mizell of Douglas, Ga., 3 brothers-in-law, Tommy Musgrove (Wilma) of Rome, Ga., Edwin Musgrove (Ona) of Millwood, Ga., and Joe Musgrove (Mary) of Douglas, Ga.. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Orman Mizell will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Pearson Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Kevin Merrell, Bishop Dan Vickers, and Bishop Steve Sirmans officiating. The interment will follow in Little Utah Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 6-9 PM, Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.
