William (Bill) Eugene Vickers

April 22, 1932 — June 7, 2014

Mr. Walter Eugene (Bill) Vickers age 82 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Saturday June 7, 2014 at Shady Acres Convalescent Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Vickers was born, April 22, 1932, son of Mr. and Mrs. Troy and Ida Broadaway Vickers. He worked at Swift Poultry Company in Douglas, Ga before being injured in an industrial accident at work. Mr. Vickers attended First Baptist Church in Willacoochee, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louree Taft Vickers and a sister, Louise Vickers. Survivors include: 1 Daughter: Dianne Hamilton and husband Don of Douglas, Ga. 1 Brother: J. T. Vickers of Fairhope, Al. 3 Sisters: Ethylene Whitaker of Foley, Al. Frances Essig of Goshen, Ind. Jackie Hayward of Gulf Hammock, Fl. 3 Grandchildren: April Solomon, Dena Vickers and Clint Hamilton all of Douglas, Ga. 5 Great Grandchildren: Austin Solomon, Adam Solomon, Brice Hamilton, Emma Hamilton and Dawson Vickers. Several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Hamilton were held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday morning at the Willacoochee First Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Huffstuttler officiating. Special musical selections included, "Go Rest High on that Mountain" rendered by soloist, Tammy Wood, accompanied by c.d. and "Amazing Grace" rendered by the congregation, accompanied by Bonnie Kunburger at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was provided by, Bonnie Kunburger, pianist. The interment followed in Willacoochee City Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were: Clint Hamilton, Adam Solomon, Don Hamilton, Jim Mills, Steve Cady and Ottis McDonald, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearer was, Great-Grandson, Austin Solomon.
