Henry G. Mizell

Mr. Henry Mizell, age 63 of Douglas, Ga. passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness. A native of Atkinson County, Mr. Mizell was born March 13, l951 son of Lendsay and Vonell Musgrove Mizell. He had made his home in Atkinson and Coffee County his whole life. He worked for the Georgia Forestry Commission for 8 years before beginning his career with the City of Douglas Fire Department where he worked for 3l and a half years retiring in 2010 with the rank of Lieutenant. After retiring he was able to devote all his time to his real passion, "Horses". He was a former President of the Coffee County Saddle Club, member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a horse trainer. It was said that Henry could ride, break and train any horse. He was an avid fisherman and a proud Papa to his grandchildren, Emma Grace and Logan. He attended Pine Grove Baptist Church in Nicholls, Ga. and was preceded in death by his father Lendsay Mizell, 2 brothers, Tony Mizell and K. L. Mizell and a sister, Louise Mizell Wright. Survivors include: Wife: Debra Sally Mizell of Douglas, Ga Daughter: Holly Mizell of Douglas, Ga. Son: Hank: Mizell and wife Amy of Axson, Ga. Mother: Vonell Musgrove Mizell of Douglas, Ga. 2 Grandchildren: Emma Grace & Logan Mizell 7 Brothers: M.L. Mizell of Kathleen, Ga. Nick Mizell and wife Amanda of Douglas, Ga. Ira Mizell and wife Julie of Irving, Ca. John Mizell and wife Sherrie of Clover, S.C. Ray Mizell of Griffin, Ga. Jim Mizell of Griffin, Ga.. Jeff Mizell and wife Shelby of Vidalia, Ga. 2 Sisters: Judy Mizell Dunn and husband Faron of Williamson, Ga. Julie Ann Mizell of Douglas, Ga. Brother-In-Law: Michael Wright of Axson,Ga. Several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Mizell were held Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Douglas, Ga. with Rev. John Carver and Rev. Larry Stone officiating. The Eulogy was given by his daughter Holly Mizell and the Fireman's Prayer was by Casey Wright. Special musical selections and video's included "Remember When" and "If I Had Only Known" and "The Cowboy Rides Away". A special musical number "You Are My Sunshine" was sung by granddaughter Emma Grace Mizell and the closing song "Lead Me Home" was rendered by Brandon Musgrove who accompanied himself on the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was played by Brandon Musgrove pianist. The interment followed in Tanner Cemetery with Honors rendered by the City of Douglas Fire Department Honor Guard and a special song "Amazing Grace "by bagpipes was played by cd. Serving as active pallbearers were: Jacob Mizell, Mark Mizell, Lucas Mizell, Clifford Stone, Johnny Bryant and David Varnedore. Honorary pallbearers were current and retired members of the City of Douglas Fire Department.
