Kathleen Luke Hayes

  Mrs. Kathleen Luke Hayes, age 86 of Willacoochee, Ga. passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Manor House in Douglas, Ga. after an extended illness.   A native of Berrien County, Mrs. Hayes was born November 16, l929, daughter of Shade and Maggie Carter Luke. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her yard, especially her flower gardens. She was also an excellent seamstress and worked for many years as a substitute teacher. She was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Hayes, a sister, Madeen Luke Garrison and two brothers, Carl and Carroll Luke.,   Survivors include: Daughter: Betty Anne Smith and husband W.M. of Pearson, Ga.   2 Sons: Larry Hayes of Willacoochee, GA.              Tony Hayes of Orlando, FL.   Brother: Lavawn Luke and wife Shirley of Nicholls, Ga. 2 Brothers-In-Law: Vernis Hayes of Waycross, Ga.                                  Carl Hayes and wife Betty of Moultrie, Ga.   Former Daughter-In-Law: Marie Hayes of Nashville, Ga.   Care Giver: Debi Bazemore of Axson, Ga.   2 Grandchildren: Brandon Hayes and wife Misty of Ambrose, Ga.                              Corey Hayes and wife Yolanda of Willacoochee, Ga.   4 Great Grandchildren: DyAnna & Hunter Hayes and Cody & Emma Hayes. Several Nieces, Nephews, and other relatives also survive.   Funeral services for Mrs. Hayes were held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Luke Baptist Church with Rev. John Jacobs officiating. Special music included “Queen Without a Crown” by cd and “When We All Get To Heaven” rendered by the attending congregation with Debi Bazemore leading and Nelda Flanders accompanying at the piano. Soft music for the Prelude and the Postlude was played by Nelda Flanders pianist. The interment followed in the St. Luke Church Cemetery.   Serving as active pallbearers were: Brandon Hayes, Corey Hayes, Jeff Edicson, Kevin Dale Harris, Greg Luke and Chris Luke. Special honorary pallbearers were great grandsons, Hunter and Cody Hayes.   Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
