Margaret Wealthy Douglas

Mrs. Margaret Benefield Douglas, age 67 of Pearson, Ga. passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Ga. following an extended illness.   Born August 31, l949 in Berrien County, Mrs. Douglas was the daughter of Eddie and Fannie Bennett Benefield. She had made her home in Atkinson County most of her life and worked as a seamstress for many years. She loved working in her yard, cooking for her family and crocheting. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Douglas, 2 sisters, Fannie Mae Bagley and Mary Frances Bennett and 2 brothers, David Benefield and J. E. Benefield. Survivors include: 2 Sons: James Douglas of Valdosta, GA.              Terry Douglas of Pearson, GA. Sister: Shirley Lott of Nicholls, GA. Brother: Eddie Benefield of Mooresville, NC   Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral Services for Mrs. Douglas were held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Sim Youngblood officiating. Special music included “Coat of Many Colors”, “I’ll Fly Away” and “Go Rest High On that Mountain” presented by cd. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was by cd music. The interment followed in the Antioch Church Cemetery.   Serving as active pallbearers were: Josh Benefield, Buddy Bennett, Jeff Bennett, Jr. Bagley, Shawn Spivey and Daniel Bennett.   Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. is in charge of the arrangements.
