Jack Wilkerson

Mr. Jack Wilkerson, Sr., age 67, of Nashville, Ga. passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at his home in Nashville, Ga following an extended illness.   A native of Atkinson county, Mr. Wilkerson was born December 11, l949, son of Joseph and Vyure Ellis Wilkerson. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era having served 15 years. He then moved to Arizona and was employed by a moving company for some years before poor health forced his retirement. He loved to fish and hunt and watch old western movies. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended Mora Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Kirkland and 4 brothers, J. R., Lamar, Roger and Roy Wilkerson.   Survivors include:   2 Sons:             Jack Wilkerson, Jr. of Nashville, Ga.                         Donald Wilkerson of Nashville, Ga.   Daughter:        Donna Lynn Mack and husband Bill of Indiana   Brother:           Mose Wilkerson of Vero Beach, Fl.   4 Sisters:          Ester Sue Griner and Husband Jerry of Willacoochee, Ga.                         Omeree Courson of West Green, Ga.                         Avienell Merchant of Willacoochee, Ga.                         Wanda Gail Stone and husband Jr. of Pearson, Ga.   6 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.   Funeral services for Mr. Wilkerson were held at 2:00 P. M. Friday, September 01, 2017 at The Mora Baptist Church. with Rev. Garvie Nichols, Jr. officiating. Special music included “Go Rest High on that Mountain”, “Jealous of the Angels”, and “Dancing in the Sky” presented by cd. Soft music for the Prelude and Postlude was played by Waunell Nichols pianist. The interment followed in the Mora Church Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by an Honor Guard Unit from St. Stewart, Ga.    Serving as active pallbearers were: Aaron Morrison, John Wesley Mosley, William Fields, David Ellis, Dale Edens, and Billy Courosn.   Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
