Rita Sears

  Mrs. Luretta "Rita" Buchan Sears, age 78, of Pearson, Ga. passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018, at her residence, following a brief illness.   A native of Ambrose, Ga., Mrs. Sears was born July 16, l939, daughter of Lent and Maude Johnson Buchan. She was a stay at home mom raising her children until they reached school age, at which time she worked in the school system they attended. She later worked at Coffee Regional Hospital and with Georgia Power Co. She will be remembered most fondly for her most favorite job of 16 years as hostess of the Coffee County Catfish House, where she welcomed everyone with that beautiful smile of hers at the door usually accompanied by a big warm hug. She loved everyone, especially her family. She was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband H. F. Sears. Survivors include: One Son: Frank Sears and wife Mary of Gray, Ga. One Daughter:  Beverly Lynn Peterson and husband Wayne of Broxton, Ga. One Brother: Tom Buchan and wife Jean of Pembroke, Ga. Four Grandchildren:   Kyle Sears, Derek Sears, Kendra Kight, and Justin Peterson and wife Meredith. One Great-Grandson:  Hiram Peterson Several Nieces, Nephews and other relatives also survive. Graveside Funeral Services for Mrs. Sears were held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at Union Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Lonnie Spikes officiating. A special poem was read by Glenda Lang. Special music included, “What a Day That Will Be” rendered by soloist Glenda Lang and a recorded song “At My Worst” (You Found Me) by Mrs. Rita Sears and Sherry Knight. The interment followed in Union Hill Cemetery. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
